Connection Wizard

The GoToAssist Connection Wizard is a series of test that determine the ideal connection settings for your network. The Connection Wizard can store these optimal connection settings on your computer for use in future help session.

Note: This feature is currently unavailable to Mac customers.

Run the GoToAssist Connection Wizard

1. Download the GoToAssist Connection Wizard. Click Run, Yes or OK if prompted.

2. Click Yes to enable GoToAssist Service support.

3. If prompted by UAC, click Yes.

4. Once the Connection Wizard opens, click Run Wizard to get started.

5. The Wizard will automatically open a web browser and direct you to www.gotoassist.com. Click OK to continue, and the Wizard will automatically run the necessary tests. Click Next once it's finished.

6. The Wizard will display the results of the tests and list any errors that were found. Click Exit Wizard to store the settings. Click Additional Support for further help from a member of Citrix Customer Care.

Use Custom Wizard features (advanced users only)

The Connection Wizard also offers advanced users and network administrators customizable options (known as the Custom Wizard) that control how GoToAssist manages connections within your network.

1. Follow Steps #1 - 3 above.

2. On the first screen of the Connection Wizard, right click the GoToAssist logo to enable advanced features.

3. Click Custom Wizard to get started.

4. Specify the parameters of the connection test, then click Next.

Note: For detailed information on the GoToAssist data server IP addresses that the Wizard attempts to reach, please consult our IP range document.

5. The Wizard will automatically open a web browser and direct you to www.gotoassist.com. Click OK to continue, and the Wizard will automatically run the necessary tests. Click Next once it's finished.

6. The Wizard displays all verified connection methods. Select a preferred connection method and adjust the Usage setting as desired (Usage drop-down menu). You can force GoToAssist to communicate through a specific port. If your network requires Internet traffic to go through a proxy, see if it’s listed as a verified connection method for GoToAssist and set the Usage drop-down menu to Force or Try Always.

7. If you don’t see any verified communication methods or your network proxy listed, click Add to create one. Specify your information and click Verify to test. If the Wizard is unable to verify your network proxy connection settings, contact your network administrator and refer to our IP range for optimal firewall configuration. Click Add when finished.

8. Click Store New Settings to continue. The Wizard will automatically run the necessary tests. Click Next once it's finished to see the results. Click Exit Wizard when done.

9. Restart GoToAssist Corporate and determine if connectivity has improved. If the connection fails with the selected configuration, re-open the Connection Wizard, right-click the GoToAssist logo and then click Manual Tools.

10. Click Reset to remove any settings previously stored by the Connection Wizard, then run the Custom Wizard again to determine if connectivity has improved.
