What is the difference between a one-time meeting and a recurring meeting?

Whenever you schedule a meeting, you are given two options in the drop-down menu below the meeting title. You can pick whichever one best suits your needs:

Pick "Occurs once" if...

...you want to host a single meeting on a certain day/time. One-time meetings have a set date and time, as well as a unique meeting ID and audio information. The meeting ID will expire 30 days after the set start date.

Pick " Occurs multiple times" if...

...you want to use the same meeting ID over and over again. Recurring meetings are available for you to use any time and as many times as you'd like. The unique meeting ID never expires and never changes, so you can launch it any time you need to.

Recurring meetings do not have a date or time associated with them because they are not meant to be used at a specific date or time. Since they are recurring, they can be used multiple times. For example, if you have a weekly team meeting, you can use Microsoft Outlook or another scheduling tool to set the dates/times and then include the Join URL for your recurring meeting. Each time your meeting is ready to begin, just launch that same session!

How to select your meeting type

1. Log in to your account at https://global.gotomeeting.com.

2. On the My Meetings page, click Schedule.

3. In the "Occurs" drop-down menu, select the desired type:

  • Occurs once – Schedule a one-time meeting.
  • Occurs multiple times – Schedule a recurring meeting.

4. Make the rest of your meeting selections, then click Save.

1. Right-click the Daisy icon in your computer's system tray.

2. Select Schedule a Meeting > Recurring meeting > Schedule.

 

 

OR

1. Log in to your account on a mobile device.

2. Select the Plus icon to schedule a meeting.

3. Enable recurring meeting by sliding the tab.

GoToMeeting provides a few different types of sessions, which allows you to pick whichever one best suits your needs.

  • One-time meetings
    These meetings have a set date and time, as well as a unique meeting ID and audio information. While you can launch the same meeting multiple times (which is particularly useful for practicing your meetings), the meeting ID will expire 30 days after the scheduled end time. To create this type of session, you can select "Occurs once" while scheduling your meeting.

  • Recurring meetings
    These meetings also have a unique meeting ID and audio information, but they do not have a set date or time. This means that they never expire and can be used over and over! These "anytime" meetings are great for recurring sessions, such as weekly sync ups or team meetings. To create this type of session, you can select "Occurs multiple times" while scheduling your meeting. Watch a quick video here.

  • Instant meetings ("Meet now")
    You can use our "meet now" sessions to start a meeting on the fly. These sessions are not scheduled ahead of time – they are just launched instantly with the click of a button! If you need to set up a quick meeting, you can start a "meet now" session and simply send others the Join URL once it has launched. Unlike scheduled one-time meetings (which can actually be launched multiple times), "meet now" sessions can only be run once and then the meeting ID expires. Learn more.

  • Personal meeting page (GoToMeet.Me)
    You can create your own personalized meeting page featuring your name, photo, location and more! Personal meeting rooms are powered by a recurring meeting, but rather than sending your attendees a Join URL, you can share your personal meeting URL (e.g., "www.gotomeet.me/DemoPage"). Learn more.

  • Meeting spaces (beta)
    With the Meeting Spaces beta, each time you create a new meeting – whether it is scheduled or recurring – a unique landing page known as a "meeting space" is created for that session. You can then use that page to prepare for the session by configuring settings, uploading files, posting an agenda, and more! You can even invite your attendees to view the meeting space before, during and after the session. Learn more.
