GoToMyPC provides a secure connection to your host computer from a client computer using temporary, downloadable software, which can make configuring GoToMyPC with firewalls difficult.
If a client computer remains stuck on Initializing connection with your host computer, then you may be experiencing this issue.
Try these to resolve your client computer connectivity issue:
The Universal Viewer is a lighter version of GoToMyPC compatible with all operating systems but without full functionality.
Please review the Universal Viewer section for more information.
To begin a session with the Universal Viewer
1. From the GoToMyPC website, log in to your account.
2. If you have multiple accounts associated with one email address, choose the account you want to access and click Go.
3. Choose the PC you want to connect to and click the Connect button.
4. On the connection status page, click Use the Universal Viewer. The Universal Viewer will begin loading.
Note: You must install and enable Java in your browser to use the Universal Viewer.
To eliminate the possibility that the connection problem is an account-related issue you can start a GoToMyPC session from another client computer. If the problem seems limited to one computer, then it may be related to your security software. If GoToMyPC connects successfully, attempt to enable your firewall with GoToMyPC by following the instructions below.
Your security software should allow you to create an exception for GoToMyPC. Although, GoToMyPC is downloaded to a location of your choice, the software runs from a temporary location on your computer.
Note: Some firewalls may allow a connection if you create an exception for the downloadable file gotomypc-start.exe, regardless of whether g2viewer.exe has also been exempted.

If you are using older security software, we recommend that you update it with the most recent version from its manufacturer.
GoToMyPC periodically releases updates for both host and client software. You may need to update your security software to the appropriate version provided by your manufacturer in order for it to recognize newer versions of the GoToMyPC software.
