File Transfer

The File Transfer feature enables you and your customer to quickly exchange files and folders between your machines (Windows and Mac). It uses the same firewall and proxy-friendly connection techniques as screen sharing, so there are no restrictions on the type or size of files that can be sent.

To send files to your customer using File Transfer

1. Click File Transfer in the Viewer's menu and select Send Files to [Customer] from the drop-down menu.

Note: The customer can also initiate a file transfer to your computer by clicking File Transfer in their Toolbar and selecting Send Files.

2. A "Select File(s)/Folder(s) to send" dialog will appear displaying the folders on your computer. Select the file(s) and/or folder(s) you want to transfer to the customer's machine and click Send (hold down Ctrl on your keyboard to select multiple files and/or folders at once).

Note: If the customer initiated the file transfer, the "Select File(s)/Filder(s) to send" dialog will appear on their screen.

3. The customer will see an Incoming Files Transfer dialog displaying the file(s) to be transferred and the default destination where they will be saved (they can click Change to modify the location where the file will be saved). Once they click Save, the file(s) will begin transferring.

Note: To cancel or view the status of the file transfer, use the File Transfer Status window.

To retrieve files from your customer's machine using File Transfer

1. Click File Transfer in the Viewer's menu and select Get Files from [Customer] from the drop-down menu.

2. A "Select File(s)/Folder(s) to send" dialog will appear displaying the folders on the customer's machine. Select the file(s) and/or folder(s) you want to transfer to your computer and click Send (hold down Ctrl on your keyboard to select multiple files and/or folders at once).

3. An Incoming File Transfer window appears displaying the file(s) to be transferred and the default destination where they will be saved (click Change to modify the location where the files will be saved). Once you click Save, the file(s) will begin transferring.

Note: To cancel or view the status of the file transfer, use the File Transfer Status window.

Drag-and-Drop File Transfer (PC only)

You can also transfer files quickly and easily by dragging a file from your desktop to the Viewer and vice versa.

To send files to your customer using Drag and Drop

1. Find the file to be transferred on your PC (either on the desktop or in Windows Explorer).

2. Click and drag the file from your Desktop or Windows Explorer and drop it in the Viewer window.

3. A Copying progress bar displaying the status of the file transfer will appear on the customer's screen .

To retrieve files from your customer's machine using File Transfer

1. Find the file to be transferred on the customer's screen on the Viewer.

2. Click and drag the file from the customer's PC and drop it on your own Desktop.

3. A Copying progress bar displaying the status of the file transfer will appear on your screen.

To use the File Transfer Status window

1. Click File Transfer in the Viewer's menu and select Display Status from the drop-down menu.

2. The File Transfer Status window will appear displaying all files that have been sent to or from your computer, along with their status ("Canceled," "Sent," Sending," etc.).

3. If one or more files' statuses are "Sending," you can stop the transfer by clicking Cancel All at the bottom. You can also clear the list of files that have been sent or canceled by clicking Clear Finished.
