Off-LAN Data Collection

While the GoToAssist Crawler is ideal for collecting configuration and performance data for a large network of computers and servers, you can also collect the same data on Unattended Support Machines that are not connected to a local area network (LAN) using Off-LAN Data Collection Schedules. By using the Off-LAN feature in Data Collection, you can set up multiple data-collection schedules for individual or groups of computers.

Creating Off-LAN Data Collection Schedules

To set up an Off-LAN Data Collection schedule

1. If you have not already done so, set up Unattended Support on all machines you wish to include in the schedule.

2. Open the Data Collection application in your Monitoring web account.

3. In the "For Off-LAN Data Collection" section, check the "Enable Off-LAN Data Collection" check box to enable the settings.

4. Click Add a Schedule to go to the Create Off-LAN Data Collection Schedule page.

5. Enter a name for the new schedule and select the company from the “Companies” drop-down menu.

6. In the "Data Type" section, select either the Configuration Data or the Performance Data option. Each option displays the specific diagnostic information that will be gathered upon selecting that option.

Note: Only one option may be selected at a time. To gather both configuration and performance data for a group of computers, set up 2 separate schedules.

7. Click Add Computers and Groups to select the computers and/or group(s) to be included in your new monitoring schedule. When the Add Computers and Groups window appears, use the left-navigation menu to choose an individual computer or a whole group (you can also search for a specific computer by using the search box on the top-right).

  • To add an entire group and all the computers listed under it, select it in the left-navigation menu (d below) and click Save.
  • To add an individual machine, find its group in the left-navigation menu, select it from the list that appears in the right pane (e below) and then click Save.

The machines you selected will automatically appear in the list in the "Computers and Groups" section. Continue to add or delete devices and groups as needed.

  • To add more devices, click Add Computers and Groups again.
  • To delete a device or group, click its row so that it is highlighted, and then click Delete (click OK when prompted).

8. Once you are done configuring your new schedule, click Create at the bottom of the page.

Your new schedule will now appear in the list under the "For Off-LAN Data Collection" section. From this list you can edit, delete or run a schedule.

Running Off-LAN Data Collection Schedules

Each Off-LAN schedule that you save is set to run (i.e. scan your devices) on a regular basis (every 24 hours for Configuration Data schedules and every 15 minutes for Performance Data Schedules). However, if you want updated information you can also run your schedule manually at any time.

To manually run an Off-LAN Data Collection schedule

1. Open the Data Collection application in your Monitoring web account.

2. In the "For Off-LAN Data Collection" section, click the row of the schedule that you want to run so that it is highlighted and the Delete and Run Now buttons become enabled.

3. Click Run Now.
