The GoToAssist Server Health application provides you with a complete view of the state and performance of key server infrastructure, and the processes running on it. You can browse the servers in your environment in a tree view, and select the specific machines and processes that you want to view and monitor. You can view the up/down status and latency of the machines over time. You can also instantly set up alerts to be notified when machines or their processes experience any downtime.
You can use your GoToAssist Server Health application to monitor the state and performance of your server infrastructure, and the processes running on it, and set up alerts to be notified when machines or their processes experience downtime. To monitor your server infrastructure using your GoToAssist Server Health application:
You can use your GoToAssist Server Health application to control what is monitored. You can select which devices or groups of devices and processes to monitor via the Configure link.
To configure what to monitor
1. In the Monitoring pull-down menu under Applications, click Server Health:
2. In the upper right, click Configure to open the configuration window:
3. In the Servers > Configure the Servers Application window, choose from the following options:
- Servers, Routers, Switches - By default, the app is set to monitor the server infrastructure, including routers and switches.
- Use Group - Choose a use group from the drop-down list.
4. Click Save.
5. Click the Servers header to return to the main Server Health page, where you can:
- Monitor - The state and up/down status of selected devices from a tree hierarchy.
- Devices/Services - Click Devices or Services to see the data displayed by device or by service.
You can use your GoToAssist Server Health application to view your server infrastructure, and to track device uptime and performance over time. The display is an instantly recognizable tree hierarchy, with the same data displayed by device and by service. You can customize the view to select what devices are monitored, whether to factor hidden services in when calculating status, and more.
To customize the view
1. In the Monitoring pull-down menu under Applications, click Server Health:
2. In the Server Health page, you can view the uptime and latency data displayed by device or by service:
3. You can customize the view by choosing from the following options:
- Refresh - Click Servers to refresh the data.
- Expand/contract view - Click + - to expand or contract the server tree.
- Add/remove from view - Hide a service from the current view.
- Add/remove from status - Click Include in status or Hide this service, to add or remove a service from being factored into the status of its host device.
- Drill down for details - Click a device or service in the tree view to display its uptime and latency in chart format. This display can be further customized.
4. Click Save.
To drill down for details
1. In the Monitoring pull-down menu under Applications, click Server Health:
2. In the Server Health page, you can view the data displayed by device or by service.
3. To drill down for more details, click the name or IP address of a device to display its up/down state and latency over the past week measured from the current date:
4. Under Device Status, click the Name or IP address to link to the Inventory app:
5. On the displayed charts, you can view and modify the queries that are behind the gathered data, by clicking vertical query buttons:
See also: Creating charts and graphs to change the chart to a list or a table, modify it as a spline or a bar graph, customize the color palette, and more.
You can add or remove services from the current view of a device when you view the device in your GoToAssist Server Health application. Removing the service from view does not remove it from the status calculation. You can add it back to the view at any time. To add or remove services from the view of a device:
In the Monitoring pull-down menu under Applications, click Server Health:
In the Devices tree, click a device to display its uptime and latency status, and the processes running on it:
Below the data charts, choose one of the following:
Show hidden services
Hide hidden services
The hidden services are displayed or not displayed, according to your action. To determine whether a service is considered hidden or not, see Add/remove from status calculations.
You can use your GoToAssist Server Health application to indicate that a service is considered hidden or unhidden. A hidden service is not included in the calculation of status for the device it runs on. You can see a hidden service without including it in the status of the device.
To add or remove a service from being included in the status of the device it is running on
1. In the Monitoring pull-down menu under Applications, click Server Health:
2. In the Devices tree, click a device to display its uptime and latency status, and the processes running on it:
3. To the right of the data charts, choose one of the following:
- Include In Status
- Hide this service
4. Click the Server header to refresh the view.
5. Note that when the service is hidden, the device status is green, and when the same service is included in the status, the failed service turned the device status to gray. You can include or exclude services from the status of a device, and still keep them within your view:
- View 1: The service is hidden, and the device status is green:
- View 2: The service is included in status, and the device status is gray:
You can use your GoToAssist Server Health application to instantly set up alerts to notify you if a particular device or service goes down. See the Alerting application for more information.
From your GoToAssist Server Health application, you can jump directly to the same device in your Inventory application.
